What's In A Name?

So here I am, about to embark on this new adventure in my life.  I am opening my own shop on Etsy where I plan to sell my collections of party supplies.  It's something I've been thinking about for quite some time, but woke up one morning and really overnight had decided it was something I really wanted to do.  Something that I was going to do...and thank goodness my husband was behind me 100% (but isn't he always, I guess?).  My first task was coming up with a name for this new business.

So what's in a name anyway?  I wanted something that really had some sort of meaning...whether big or small, but that also described what my shop is all about.  After some thinking about what that name might be, (and after a conversation with the above said supportive husband) I decided that Polkadots & Pirates really fit both my business and me.

Polka dots fit because I am quite obsessed with them myself and because they were the theme of my daughter Avery's last birthday party.  They are also the theme of my first collection.

Pirates are an obsession of my oldest son Tate's right now.  He actually is already saying that is what his next party will be, even though that's 9 months away!   The pirate collection is in development right now, but watch for it in my shop in August.

Now that the name is decided, there are so many other things to consider before I'm up and running.  There have been many late nights after the kiddos are in bed, so if you've gotten a 1:30 am email from me, pardon the tired typing errors!

Watch for a grand opening of my shop July 1st, 2008!
